Looking for a black or burgundy centre console for my auto transmission 66 coupe. I'm located in NOVA.

Cheers, Rui.

In a Vintage Burgundy car with a Black interior, The console should be black. Repros of everything are available now from any Mustang vendor. NPD carries the best parts when it comes to '65-'66 consoles. The best repro console made is from Daniel Carpenter. I'd actually go out on a limb and say that its made better than the originals.. It won't warp or "plastic bleed" either because it's made of Modern ABS plastic.

If you have to make cuts (for convertible, or A/C cars) or adjustments on the console, You only need 4 tools, A Coping saw, A Dremel with a sanding bit, and a X-acto knife and a small flat file. Smooth out any rough edges and polish using No.7 White compound.

ItÂ’s worth noting that consoles are easy to paint and the transmission plates are easy to swap. Mine used to be green/auto. I fixed that.

The anvil of reality.

We carry the Daniel Carpenter non-AC console if you want to go that route.

Thanks,
Craig

One thing that I did notice on the new Repros when being used for the '65-'66 Convertible is the inner template on the underside made one mistake with is easily fixable. On the inner template, It has the bottom pieces of the screw holes plastic to cut it forming a sharp "V" at the bottom. That's wrong. They should be "Rounded" under the screw holes which is what the factory did. It cuts down on the console tearing the carpeting and the fit is much better and won't create an area that will crack. It's easily fixable when cutting the "cut-outs" for the convertible. Also, The carpeting covers the rest.. Other than this minor thing that's easily avoidable. They nailed it.

It's kind of dopey to have an A/C console in the car if there's no AC..... as it will look totally out of place... Check ebay... People are selling original consoles on there all the time.. but they'll most likely need some type of work.. and have a crack or two..

Today, It's great though as you can get everything just about in the aftermarket except the Original type plastic clips that hold the wiring underneath the console...Those are not reproed yet, and most mustang vendors substitute Black Cable TV cord Black plastic clips (Egad!) in their place....lol.. Absolutely everything else is well reproed though. Though everything in repro will cost about $550-$600 when you are all done... Well worth it in my humble opinion. I've found that a good mixture of Original and Repro parts is good also... Repro Plastic consoles and Original Console plates in good shape is good mix I have found, though Repo console plates including console doors have gotten much, much better in just recent years...especially the ones made by Blue Oval Products...who also makes Original type Rally-Pacs by the way...along with Scott Drake, but that's another thread...all great stuff though..

I got the TJI full length console, but it won't fit in with the Classic Auto Air Daily driver AC which I installed. Anyone have any photos that can give an idea of how to cut it so I don't wreck it completely?
