Ed James - Scuncio Chevrolet, Rhode Island

Has anyone heard from or talked to Ed James from the Detroit Horsepower Forum?
He was very knowledgeable about cars Scuncio and Norwood Chevrolet cars from Rhode Island.
The last posts I could find were back around 2009?

Hope all is well. Thanks.

Yes, I've seen that site but it is no longer active.
I think he was the moderator of the site.
He was also reproducing the "Hi-Performance Scuncio Chevrolet" Diecast metal dealer badges.

Re: Ed James - Scuncio Chevrolet, Rhode Island

Hi Ed,
Glad you are doing OK. I thought you would enjoy seeing this. I know you have helped others and have done a lot of research on many of the old muscle cars in Rhode Island.
I finished restoring a 69' Camaro conv. that originally came from Norwood Motors in Warwick, RI.

When I painted the car I left the 2 alignment holes from the original dealer badge with hopes that I could find an original or somehow repair a pitted salvage yard one.
I searched everywhere and tracked down every mechanic from the late 60's that I could find that had worked at Norwood Chevrolet.(Norwood Motors)

My thought was that someone that worked there might have had a dealer badge stuck to the top of their tool box.
Finally, after months of searching I came across one of the mechanics that had worked there and had it laying in a display case in his house as a momento from his years of service.
After sharing some of his memories, negotiating, and knowing that it would be resting where it was intended to be displayed, he agreed to part with it.

Re: Ed James - Scuncio Chevrolet, Rhode Island

Hi my name is Bruce Carvalho,Ive been trying to locate an emblem since 1978 for my car I hear theres a repop out there somewhere. I went to scuncio back in the late 70s-early 80s looking for one, i spoke with Bob Johnson but none were available. The one that was on my car got thrown away when it was painted in the early 80s. Any help would be great!!! [email protected]

PM me with the one you are looking for I have a few originals. I bought a repro before and they are made out of a cheap metal that resembles putty ,you can bend them in your hand without effort. There were a few different styles for different years

Re: Ed James - Scuncio Chevrolet, Rhode Island

Yes, I saw that. He can ask whatever he wants to ask, but that sure doesn't mean he's going to get it.

And that's just the standard Scuncio emblem that came on all the cars,....that's not the "Hi-Performance" emblem from Scuncio that came on the muscle cars sold there.
