How many of you,,

Team Chevelle owners also own one or more Corvettes? Post some photos, with years. Mine is a 2002 Z06.

Re: How many of you,,

2019 Z06 Convertible, 7-Speed, one year old today. Awesome vehicle from my perspective. First photo is on MacMulkin Corvette third floor showroom in Nashua, NH. They had over 100 new Corvettes in inventory when I ordered mine. They are the second largest Corvette dealer next to Kerbeck in Atlantic City, NJ.

Re: How many of you,,

We have had 5 Corvettes, currently have the wife's 2016 2lt 7 speed manual, convertible we ordered for her after she learned how to walk again after a nasty spinal injury a few years ago.

We flew back to central Pennsylvania to pick it up , drove to Florida to see her folks and then back to Montana by way of Bowling Green Ky. Great road trip. MPG averaged in the mid to high 30s range. It is a great car.

Is it true that Corvettes are made from old Elvis Presley records?--

I had a 1958 in 62, I had a tough time reaching the pedals. Moved the seat so I could reach the clutch & brake pedals, Then the steering wheel was in my face.

Re: How many of you,,

I am seriously considering a Corvette, BUT I would probably get rid of the El Camino. Partially for the money, and also for the space. My El Camino, and my wife's car are in the garage, my daily drive (2015 Charger R/T) sits outside. IF I got a 'Vette, and kept the El Camino, the 'Vette would also sit outside year round.
I am considering either a nice C3 in the $10K - $15K range, or a C5, maybe an early C6. I love all the toys the newer ones have, but I can't narrow down even what I want, convertible, removeable top (solid and clear?), FRC (I love the trunk look). I love toys like HUD, and I would yank the factory radio, but mainly for something modern, but not hack it up any. (I have no need for cassette, or a single CD slot). I would keep the car pretty stock otherwise, even wheels.
Heck, I can't decide on stick or auto.
SO, To sum up,
I WANT ONE
Plus I would go and park next to other Corvettes at shows with a GM jacket, or a Chevy t-shirt, just to annoy the "CORVETTE" leather jacket fanatics you always see with the crossed flags on every removable item they own. I don't want to be THAT GUY.
In an ideal world, I would want a 1974 454 4 speed, convertible in blue. That or one like Dennis Hopper's Corvette in "King of the Mountain"
https://youtu.be/1CB5GEeYCrg
And just plain drive the hell out of it.

An '82 is on my list as well. Great for people that can't decide if they want manual or automatic. Last of the C3, all Automatic...

Re: How many of you,,

So all you guys are over 65, right? My sons' observations years ago, only "old guys" drive Vettes, and if its a roadster the old lady is in there with him.

I laughed but holy smokes, we "gathered data" on family road trips, and well... its a valid stat! I've got 7 years to go before I am eligible. I'll find one gently used from "some old guy" older than this old guy , that I can then beat the damn tar out of.

Went thru the Vette thing early...at age 50.

Into Caddies and Camaros now at age 66.
Regression maybe ??

Re: How many of you,,

Not yet, but within the next year or so, I plan to pick up a used C6 base coupe w/ manual trans. There's a 2008 for sale locally that's priced right, but I'm just not sold on black. Ideally, I'd like a dark gray one for under $20k.

First mods will be an aggressive alignment and sticky tires.

You don't have to be 65 to own one if you race it.

Nope, but I am 55. The age thing is several fold.
For me, after say these reasons.
  • 40 years of that gnawing away in the back of my mind, every car purchase
  • Children mostly moved out and independent (more free space, money, time…)
  • Non collectable ones are pretty dang cheap, because of various reasons including they actually are dependable and high percentage still on the road
  • Space and spare money for cars that don't need to take 3 kids/car seats/strollers and again, the Corvettes I am looking at are much cheaper than the Intrepid I bought new as a family car in 1993 before inflation even!
I really want a C3, that is what I grew up looking at on the streets and to me is "The Corvette", but for the money, a C5 is the performance steal. You can get a nice C6 starting at $20K! And for $25K you can get just about any Corvette from mid 1970s through late 2000s. 30 years of coolness and performance innovations all for less than a new Civic. Heck, for under $10K get a C4, not an amazing car, but still a great handling cool car for not a lot of money, and if everything works when you get it, odds are it will continue to for years.
