Has anyone removed the upper steering column housing cover in the car 1970?
The shop manual says just 3 screws to remove item 9 from the Assy drawing, are under the directional switch.
Just didn't want to force anything

Thanks

I got the upper housing off,but it's the next lower shroud that exposes the sector gear rack and linkage i need to get to.
I cannot seem to get enough travel out of the rack to properly line up the key cylinder.
Anyone???

The ignition switch is off and i can move the linkage rod back and forth, but when pushed all the way home the sector gear"D" Hole
Doesn't end up straight up,therefore the key cylinder won't line up right in order to get the key out.
I don't know if the throw on the rack is adjustable, and can the lower part of housing be removed in the car for access.
Thanks
