Back in the day, my 66 GTO and my friends' cars

Back in the early 70's when I was a teen and looking to purchase my first car, I decided that I definitely wanted something special. My best friend had a 68 Camaro with a 3-speed and a 327. No power options, but it was a nice car. My other best friend had a VW Beetle.

Being located in the Southeast, A/C was a must for me. I wanted a car with some muscle and style. I finally found it in my 66 GTO, purchased from the original owner. Complete with A/T, P/S and P/B, it was a dream come true for me. 389 with a single 4bbl had plenty of muscle and the two-tone paint had plenty of style.

My other friends?

One later purchased a supernice 67 Lemans in white with black interior. It was also an A/T, A/C, P/S and P/B car with the 326 V8. It was almost a GTO!

Another friend had a 73 Ventura Sprint. Gold with black stripes. It was a 3-speed car and looked a lot faster than it was.

A little later, another good friend of mine acquired a 70 Boss 302 Mustang. It was just as it came from the factory. It was quick, but it couldn't outrun my GTO stoplight to stoplight. Any further than that, the Boss 302 could wind up the rpms and get gone.

I also had a friend that had one of the Barracudas with the big back window. It was not fast at all.

I also knew others with early Mustangs, Dusters and a Charger.

I always felt like the "King" with my 66 GTO and it always served me well.

I still have it.............43 years later, fully restored! (see my garage)
