Road-rage incident on 295 - LS1GTO.com Forums

If so i hope you're alright, let me know if you need anything.

On Saturday night, drivers experienced backups on MD 295 after what The Baltimore Sun reported was a case of road rage involving four vehicles.

Multiple individuals were transported to the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center with injuries as a result of the incident, which occurred just before 8 p.m., Maryland State Police told Patch.

Cody James Hickerson, 25, of Frederick County, was charged with reckless endangerment, assault and driving under the influence in a disturbance that began when the driver of a Subaru Outback honked at him for driving erratically on MD 295 southbound, reported The Baltimore Sun. As a result, Hickerson drove his Nissan Titan into the passenger side of the Subaru, pulled over near the Waterview Avenue exit in Baltimore City and he and his passenger attacked the Subaru with their fists and knees, according to the report.

The driver of a Pontiac GTO stopped to assist, and when the Pontiac left the scene, Hickerson followed it across the Baltimore County line before ramming into it with his truck, reported WJZ, causing the Pontiac to spin off the highway.

Hickerson's truck crossed the median into 295 northbound, where it flipped several times and landed on the hood of a Honda Civic, ejecting him, according to The Baltimore Sun.

Alcoholic beverages were found near the truck, reported WJZ.

Lanes were shut down on the Baltimore-Washington Parkway northbound at MD 695 between 7:47 p.m. and 10:35 p.m., said Maryland State Police.

An Elkridge Patch reader reported there was a "huge backup on 295 S" near the Howard/Anne Arundel line just before 9 p.m.

Hickerson and his passenger were being treated for what WJZ said were "serious injuries."

From the Baltimore Sun:

"Maryland State Police have charged a 25-year-old Frederick County man with assault, driving under the influence and reckless endangerment in connection with a road-rage incident that involved four vehicles on the Baltimore-Washington Parkway Saturday evening.

Police said Cody James Hickerson was driving a Nissan Titan truck erratically in a southbound lane of the highway in Baltimore City at about 8:30 p.m. when the driver of a Subaru Outback sounded his horn. Hickerson then drove his vehicle into the passenger side of the Subaru and continued driving, police said. He then stopped the truck near the Waterview Avenue exit, forcing traffic to come a halt. He and his passenger, Dylan Louis Mangini, 22, got out of the truck, approached the Subaru, which was behind them, and struck the car with their fists and knees, police said.

Two men in a Pontiac GTO stopped to assist the Subaru's driver, who had called police. When the Pontiac left the scene, Hickerson and Mangini returned to the truck and drove after the car, crossing the line into Baltimore County. Hickerson then drove into the rear end of the Pontiac and also struck the car's passenger side, causing it to spin off the highway, police said.

Hickerson then lost control of the truck, crossed the median and overturned several times on the northbound side of the highway, police said. The truck landed on the hood of a Honda Civic and Hickerson was ejected from the truck, police said.

Investigators found alcoholic beverages on the ground next to the truck, as well as in the truck, police said.

Hickerson and Mangini were taken to the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center, where they were both in serious but stable condition Sunday, police said.

Deborah Latour, 53, who was driving the Honda Civic, was also taken to Shock Trauma, but she had been discharged by Sunday afternoon. The two men in the Pontiac GTO were also taken to an area hospital with less serious injuries, police said.

Hickerson faces three counts of first- and second-degree assault, DUI, malicious destruction of property and multiple traffic violations, police said. Mangini faces one count each of second-degree assault and malicious destruction of property, police said."
