Barret Jackson Shelby GT...restore or not

Watching Barret Jackson this evening and saw the spot on the Barn Find Shelby GT 350 with faded stripes and 44,000 miles and the debate was to restore or leave as is and i thought it would be a great topic.....i myself would clean and freshen everything mechanical up, scuff and repaint to original specs. For what that car is going to fetch i would be afraid to drive it anyways...

They said they did the mechanicals on the car and got it running and driving. The fancy car shows have a barn find class, other shows just call it unfinished, lol. That car should be put in a museum as is, maybe put a matt clear on it to protect the patina. I love it like that, like a rat rod. Is a restored GT350 worth more, or is that all the money for the car?

Burning rubber since 1982!!
My photobucket, lots of dif car pics.

One of the best deals I've seen was back in like `83 some guys came into the dealership wanting front lower control arms for a `70 hemi cuda. So I asked them were they got the car. They said they answered an add at the laundry mat. Grandpa bought a brand new hemi Cuda, drove it home and didn't like it so he parked it in the barn. It had 15 miles on it! Grandpa died years before and grandma was asking $1500.00 just to get rid of it!!! The add just said `70 plymouth $1,500.00. These kids bought it and had trashed it hitting a culvert on a country road. I was like...WTF?? Do you know what that car is worth?!?! And your trashing it?!?!?

yeah we all wish one of those would fall in our laps.....i always peek in the gararges when we do construction work out near Pontiac and Royal Oak hoping to spot a Royal Bobcat or the like from one of the oldtime engineers that lived in the area.....never know. did'nt think it was going on the block until today if all they got was 45,000 i would think thats a steal, white paint did not look all that bad for a driver, i like your idea of just clearcoating Jet
