66 Impala Caprice Rear Suspension Sag
Just sharing. Sometimes folks like to see pictures of other people's projects, and their workarounds or successes. I wanted to share a positive experience and provide a before and after someone can use as an actual reference.
My 66 was sporting the original springs in the rear. While some like to go down, others like things stock or to go up. I wanted to restore some ride height to the car. After some research, I decided to purchase a set of springs from Summit Racing. Basically they are the MOOG CC601 series, or "cargo" springs. I chose Summit but they are readily available elsewhere. These are designed for wagons and have a slightly different tensile strength than the regular car ones. MOOG offers two types, cc601 and cc609 which will both work for a 66. Both of these are variable spring rates but the free standing height or length of cc609 is 16.69 inches versus the cc601 having 17.10 inches. So if you want the additional height, go with the cc601 as I did.
