o4 no sound

I have a stock cd head unit and a stock amp in the trunk. pretty recently, I get no sound out of the speakers. head unit lights up (volume, radio station clock etc). ive looked around on line and ive seen a lot of people posting about this issue. nearly every forum I look at, someone mentions a bundle of wires under the passenger seat with an orange wire that splits into 2 (going to amp) that gets corroded from a water leak issue in passenger door. poked around under the carpet and found a corroded female plug (no male plug in site). as soon as I moved it 2 wires fell apart, and were corroded. ive tried splicing the wires every way I can (its a black, 2 oranges, and a orange/black) any help, experience or suggestions??

Andrew as you can tell by the other posts today we are a board that shares knowledge on rear wheel drive, carburetored Chevy V-8 powered engines that haven't been seen since the year 1987. Most of the posts on this board discuss maintaining and upgrading 1963-'67 Impalas.

As much as you would like a response I haven't a clue as to what you are talking about. I have no first hand knowledge and know nothing about front wheel drive V-6 EFI cars whether made by Chevy, Chrysler or Ford.

Same thing on my 07 Monte. The amp is usually the issue. There may be a simple fix. It is usually brought on by a cold snap or weak battery, followed by a spike. It shuts the amp down. The radio and display function otherwise, but no sound. Disconnect the negative battery cable for about 2-3 minutes and reconnect it. Now try your radio. This process will usually re-set the amp. If you battery is getting old, replace it as that can also cause this issue.

The other possibility is that the orange wires in question touched the floor and shorted, thus blowing the fuse. Check the amp fuse to be sure it is still good. Good luck!
