dome lights wont turn off

I changed the front part of my emergency brake cable and when I finished my dome lights would not turn off. I disconnected my headlight switch completely and unplugged both of my door switches and they were still on. So I thought my car was haunted by a ghost at this point. Then I realized that I may have bumped into the wiring under my dash or something else while I was rolling around down there changing the cable, which is exactly what happened. I bumped into the square bulb frame under the dash and the side of the bulb frame was touching the metal on the bulb and causing a short. I bent the metal away from the bulb and they went out. That was a head scratcher for a few hours...

Not unheard of. The lights have direct power all the time. The switch provides the ground to complete the circuit. You bypassed the switch with the bracket...
