1967 4 door tail light issues

Hi All,
First post on the forum! i am having some issues after replacing the globes on the left hand tail light on my 67 hardtop (all 3 globes, lights, brake & signal). before i go on everything was working fine previously. so, after changing the globes i have put the sockets back in and have the following problems;

1. dash lights now come on when the brake pedal is pressed
2. left turn signal (intermittently) either dosent work or works but the right signal flashes at the same time!

i have since replaced all the light sockets with new ones (hoping this would fix the problem) and checked the wiring and globes in the rear and all appears ok, but still have the same problem.. if i take the globes back out of the sockets this seems to fix the 2 abovementioned issues on the dash but then obviously have no lights!

any help would be much appreciated!

Thanks Damien

Welcome to the Team Damien!

You are having grounding issues with the tail lamp. Removed the entire tail lamp and reinstall after wire brushing the rust off the car. You will probably need to make new foam gaskets out of pick-up camper shell weather stripping (comes in grey two inch wide rolls of low density plastic that is self adhesive), unless your original white high density foam plastic gaskets can be reused.

Sometimes you have to run new grounds. These cars always seem have ground problems with the tail and brake lights. Make sure your using 1157 or equivalent bulbs on tail and brake sockets.
