1964 Impala SS Steering wheel issue

Hello all,

So I decided to replace my turn signal switch this past weekend because the other was broken. I removed the steering wheel and replaced the switch. I am now in the process of putting the steering wheel back together and i cannot get the steering wheel back on the threads. It almost seems as though the new switch is hitting something which is preventing the wheel from going back on. Is there anything special to the process of getting the wheel back on that i am missing? I cannot find any videos on the net, so any assistance would be greatly appreciated, thank you in advance.

Can you post a pic without the wheel on? Upside down switch?

It's possible that you have the switch clocked either left or right and the canceling cam is hitting one of the pawls. Make sure the switch is centered around the steering shaft.

Yea, I am not sure what the deal is because I only have 2 options. It's either low or very high. The 2nd piece of the column design only allows those 2 options by its design.

I don't recall exactly, but I seem to recall the turn signal outer shell mounted on 3 tabs and you needed to twist the shell to lock it in place.
