Speedometer

Hello. My impala 1965 speedometer needle star jumping up and down, and mile calculator stop running. When i reverse about 20 meter everything works fine some time. What is the problem?

Has your speedometer cable came out on either end or is it being restricted by a sharp bend?

Check speedo gear in transmission and make sure it doesn't look worn.

Sounds to me you might get away with lubricating the speedometer cable with some dry graphite. If the cable is staring to unravel it is time to replace it. Cars had plastic speedo gears, while the same ratios were made out of aluminum in trucks if you have to replace the gear due to wear.
