i need help w/ 1965 Tilt Steering

Greeting everyone, i have a 65 Impala wagon with a very sloppy tilt steering and in the process of trying to Tighten it up.......

the s wheel is off

directionals are out

BUT i don't know what to do next, it's my understand (which may be wrong) that there is/may be (4) "hold down" bolts which tighten up this problem.....but i cannot get to the next step....can you help???

below is a pic of where i am....i see a couple springs (1 & 2) and a small screw......any ideas will be greatly appreciated

and thank you in advance..

or any idea on where i can find a tutorial would also be great!

hi there everybody.....i decided to pull the whole column out......and still can't figure this thing out....any ideas? can these be tightened?

I would look at the other end of the colum on the out side of the firewall but I'm just guessing.

....well just an FYI...i got her apart......undo the top of the two "hold down" springs...there is a collar which needs to be removed (a little careful prying on that will do just fine)...the collar is an exterior piece right above the column shifter sleeve.....it too is a "painted sleeve.....after that there are TWO "Pivot Pins" which need to be extracted, i scavenged a screw which threaded into them and place a spacer in between the screw's washer and the column and screwed down until the pin was extracted (do the same on the other side)........after both pins were removed some "wiggling" was required to release the top portion from the bottom....after that....tighten down the four screws (use some loc-tite) and reassemble....btw i used some wire to apply some tension the springs so as the "stay" lodges on there perches during the reassembly
