Exclamation Surging.....HELP PLEASE!!!!!

My Impala is surging/lunging forward and dies only in drive, when coming to a stop, or stopped with the brakes on. When in park or on the highway it is ok and idles fine. I tried to increase the idle and it only slightly helped.
At first I tried electrics: new electric voltage regulator, battery check, alt. check, alternator charging check, replaced plug in voltage regulator, and a new battery cable. The car starts fine after it dies and the alternator charges fine.
Other Checks: I sprayed carb cleaner around carb and manifold and found no vac. leaks.
What else could it be????????
It is a 64 impala with an old 350 in it but otherwise it is all stock.

Probably time for a carb rebuild. Idle circuit or transition circuit is probably gummed up.

if you have power brakes, disconnect and plug the vacuum port at the manifold. it this helps your brake booster is leaking when brakes are applied. replace it. hope this helps
