1964 Impala issues driving

As stated above I have a 1964 Impala with a 283 engine and a 2 barrel rochester. While driving my car around the block a few times today, I noticed when I would come to a stop my car would die and I wouldnt be able to start it back up for a minute or so. What could be causing this? Could it be vapor lock(Im just guessing)? And Btw I dont really have a feel for the car because I havent really got to drive the car since I just got it and couldnt do anything with it(moving wise) until I did my brakes(also the car was sitting for many years before I bought it)or could it be my carburetor(and Ive alread bought and used a kit for it)?

Could be bad gas or a tranny in need of a flush and filter. Could be your carb rebuild has issues. It is hard to tell over the internet. You need a mechanic to be standing next to it ti diagnose what the issue is.

First thing I would do is check the filter stone it the Carb inlet. My 283 impala would often do this after sitting the winter. Under pressure the stone gets clogged and the car would stall, after pressure fell off the gas would flow again under idle. If not this it could be a host of other things like Dave said.
Good luck.

I am assumig we are talking about a PG. After you have done the above might want to check and replace the transmission vacuum modulator. Its a cheap fix and may be the cause of your problem.
