Engine wont turn (electrical)

It's as if the battery is unplugged. Drove the car around changed the oil, then came home snooped around the carb to check out a part i needed to change out. Put it back together (few screws) and its as if the battery was unplugged, nothing happens.

I noticed the door lights come on but the started doesn't even make a noise. I check all the fuses one of the 20a ones blew and i replaced but it didn't help.

I know something has to be shorting out. that spot on the carb was getting super hot. so i unplugged it and gave up for today.

Any hints on where i need to start looking?

That area is getting hot because it has a heater inside of there to heat up a bimetal strip to open your choke up (unplugged it stays cold; so your choke stays on until the car gets warm enough to heat up the carb: which could take till summer).

I have no idea what your electrical problem is. Sorry

What year is the car? If it has the connectors on the engine side of the firewall to the back of the fuse panel, take them apart and clean them and put them back together. That might do it.
