Removing the ignition lock of a 68 Impala

A port worker broke my ignition key with the lower half still in the lock (So I´m able to start the car with a screwdriver).
I wanted to replace the lock, removed the nut and tried to pull it out bit I can´t remove the switch from the lock.

Is there another possibility to remove it? Other than cutting the lock apart which I believe is very tricky...

Thanks in advance!

With the ignition in the off position, turn the key to the left, accessory position. Insert a straightened out paper clip into the little hole in the face of the switch and push in. While pushing in turn the key left again and the key tumblers will pop out.
