1967 impala door wont open

Passenger door wont open.sometimes it randomly works if i jiggle with the lock.I have my door panel off so i can see inside. When I press the button on the outside I can see it move inside the door. It looks like its not hitting this piece of metal. When I stuck a screwdriver down there and pressed it this metal piece. The door unlocked. Sorry its pretty vague. I dont know the technical terms for anything.

Get a can of spray lube and spray everything inside the door.

Could be a bent rod (linkage inside the door) or a defective latch mechanism. Latch mechanism can be rebuilt with a kit (latch and striker are the same for most full size and intermediate cars and light trucks). Rods get bent when the pop a lock "Expert" pulls to hard on the burglar bar tool used to grab the rod to open a locked door.
