1964 Impala

Hello all, my 64 impala with a 283 4barrel holly starts good but when I give it any gas it stalls out every time, can anyone help?

Bad accelerator pump? Take of the air cleaner. Look straight down the carb. Open the throttle all the way, quickly. Did you see a strong stream of gas? If not, that's your problem.

Two doors, four doors, wagons, and ragtops.

Welcome to the team Rick!

Actually if you do as he states above you could just as easily see a rapidly rising, expanding ball of hot incandescent gasses as the car back fires.

Do what he says with the engine off; and you can check it out for a visible stream of gas or not that should be shooting into the throttle bores as the carb throttle blades are opened.

I would hope that common sense would dictate that you take my advice with the car off. Otherwise, the Darwin List is always looking for nominees...
