What is this thing? trunk junk

Some of you may have seen the TON of odds n' ends in the trunk of my Ebay 66 Impala. Some weird stuff in there.

Anyhow, this was in there and I doubt it's anything I need but I don't recognize it.

What is it?

Hey Allen,
Unless You're Impala has a trailer hitch....Of the 5th wheel variety, and you plan to pull a trailer with air brakes with it....Then you might want to keep that!!!! That certainly appears to be a fitting for the air line.

A realy big trailer. Air coupling for a semi truck allows the tractior to provide air to release the rear brakes.

Former owner was probably a trucker. These things get lost easily and frequently as they were on the ends of a long rubber hose that could fall off and get ripped off under the tires. The driver would notice this loss by the sudden locking up of the trailer brakes; since the air pressure is designed to release the brake not apply it. Without a spare or two he is stuck on the side of the road.

I would've guessed some sort of interior piece. That stitching threw me off.

The picture has changed from what was originally posted. That is a problem with hosting off site. If the reference picture is deleted off site it looses the link, or if you edit the picture title it will show a different picture.

Yup, Dave is pretty much right there.

I deleted the original files of http://www.media-swap.com/Impalaunknown1.jpg and http://www.media-swap.com/Impalaunknown2.jpg

The hosting server apparently had some kind of "best match" function and it was showing you http://www.media-swap.com/Impalaunknown3.jpg Go figure.

All gone now! lol.
