Gas Monkey Impala

I dont usually watch these guys, but since they advertised that they would be fixing up a 65 Impala it peaked my interested and I watched.

While I dont like the fake drama and scripted scenes, they did fix up the Impala pretty nice, really liked the color combo and wheels (I dont know if I would ever replace the 14ins on mine though)

BUT I HATED those taillights

Otherwise cool build, oh and I think Im going to find a Casino to buy my car... haha yea sure

I would say he gets close to his price. 65 values have really taken off in the past five years.

Two doors, four doors, wagons, and ragtops.

And remove the RUST!! You can see it in the pics on the drivers side front fender, bubbling through FFS and under the rear screen! The airl ines through the trunk floor are all over the place as well, they don't line up and are uneven.......just really shoddy work. Pretty poor build I thought for the money. I heard it cost the owner $75K for them to build it.....if thats the case, its a joke IMO.

$33,500 is a lot better than the ridiculous $75K Harrah's supposedly paid Gas Monkey for the car. I watched the show and there were rust bubbles showing all around the car and the lower rear window panel had holes in it. I can't imagine Harrah's put this car on their floor like it was a show car. We all have to remember these TV shows aren't real.

My favorite joke/insult are the supposed auction shows where the car flippers quickly fix cars for auctions and they quote putting wheels and tires and a full paint job and the narrators say; "They spent $1300 to fix it". They should at least recognize that their viewers are reasonably intelligent car guys and they should try not to insult us with their ridiculous claims.

But even so, $33k is still way overpriced for what is basically a small block Impala SS with air ride and a set of wheels.............rust included. Its nothing special, or have I missed something here???

Its not even an SS, and who knows if its an original drivetrain, the 327 looks original, but who knows whats underneath

Damn, just watched the ep. How could a professional shop allow a vehicle to go out the door with rust HOLES? Terrible.

Two doors, four doors, wagons, and ragtops.

I visited Harrah's Casino in Cherokee a couple months ago. They were advertising this 65 Impala all over the casino. Even the elevator doors had a full size photo of the car.
The casino was advertising a blue, Super sport, Big block car with optional bumper guards.
Thats not what the winner got.

If I am not mistaken the Impala gas monkey did was suppose to be a quick flip. by quick flip I would imagine not making much from it because they upgrade a few things to make it look a little better (wheels and interior) and make it ride a little better (suspension) and make a 5k from the deal. I agree the casino should have sent a cer lover instead of the manager. But Gas Monkey does very well on vehicles that people pay for ahead of time. They did a 1st gen Camaro for Sonics, they did a wagon for Dale JR.

The car that the casino delivered was valued at $75,000 for tax purposes. The guy that won the car is selling it to pay the taxes on the winnings. If I had won that car I would have it apraised. I would be surprised if it was valued at more than $30,000. I feel the winner was taken.
