Donut Derelicts pics

Went by to the Donut Derelicts gathering Saturday morning. It is an informal car show here in So Cal. You just show up and park your car, walk around looking at the other cool cars and have coffee and donuts
http://www.donutderelicts.com/
My main reason for going was to get some recommendations for local body/paint/restoration shops. It was a bit embarrassing taking my 64 Impala in it's current condition, most everything there is so shiny Took a few snapshots that you guys might like.

Nice looking old GMC truck.

My wife liked this Vette It actually does have a transaxle in front, so it is a 4x4. Looks like a cartoon or Hot Wheels car to me.

There was a beautiful black 61 Impala with a 409 there. I got so carried away with the engine, I fogot to get an overall shot.

As nice as it is, I don't envy the maintainance of two carbs.

I think I've heard of that gathering from one of the weekend car shows. Looks like fun.

I don't think there's ever been a morning car show 'round here.

got any more pics?

That was about it for pictures. I only took my little snapshot camera. I am thinking of going this coming Saturday with my real camera and take more pictures.

I've been there several times. My brother-in-law lives in Corona and I used to work for him. I spent six months there and went to Huntington Beach every chance I could. I even bought one of their shop coats I got so sucked up in the atmosphere. It's a great hang and usually great folks. Don't feel bad about your 64. Every time I was there there was a fair share of 'unfinished' cars.

I'd love to see something like that around but the weather isn't all that conducive. If you wanna try to organize something, let me know, I'll help out.

i've been there quite a few times. cool show. unfortunately i'm about 130 miles north of there so i have to get up at 3am"ish" to get there on time. the show basically runs from 6am to 9am on Saturdays.

from what i hear it's the largest unorganized car show in the US.

very cool show. i stop and pick up my daughter, have breakfast, see the show then take a leisurely cruise home... what a way to spend a Saturday morning

Went again this morning, so here are more pictures, as promised. Turnout was light as there was a threat of rain, but not a drop fell there.

My rusty contribution to the event :-)

And finally, a fellow 64 Impala. Naturally, it had to be next to perfect, to make my 64 look all the more shabby. It's for sale if you got $18k burning a hole in your pocket.

I took lots of underhood pictures to help me with my restoration work.

To the best of my knowledge, those valve covers aren't supposed to have the engine sticker on them. Just the later valve cover with the flat rectangle in the middle. Those covers are supposed to be plain, with just the sticker on the air cleaner.

Either way, I'm jealous. What a great show. 'Lot's of nice cars out where you live.

Yeah, I don't recall the 283 stickers being for a 64 283. I think this guy just bought them because a catalog listed them as being for a 64, rather than researching it. He also had a couple of stickers on the radiator brace and fan shroud that I don't recall either. Still it was a beautiful car.

Thanks for posting the pics David! Lots of great cars there.

I think I especially liked that orange/white 60/61 Impala that was your first pic from the past weekend,....and that lime green 56 Chevy in the background of the same pic looks sweet too.

That Corvette Wagon really caught my eye too.....I know I have heard about that model before, but I can't remember if it's legitimate or a fake tha tsomeone made! Anyone know? I was leaning towards "someone made it into a wagon".

Oh, and for the record, I wish you got a shot of that black '68 Chevelle SS next to the 'Vette wagon.

Supposedly there were a handful of concepts made. I have no idea if this is one of them or a 're-creation'. A bit more of the Chevelle for you too

Thanks! I love these cars. My '68 is going to be black also, but not an SS. It's already cloned as an SS, but I thought of doing something a little more obscure. Maybe a "Motion" clone. I haven't seen many of those floating around.

I love your pictures, by the way. I just can't get enough of the hotrods. Some say it's a sickness.
