engine and trans decode

hey guys was very curious to see if my 62 has original motor and trans.I pulled them both out and recorded all numbers for the experts.any help would be great thanks
engine shows To325DK by water pump bolt
in the back it shows c1863 3794226
behind the flex plate shows H8 817 Txx
trans shows 3789080
vin is 21847B230686
I doubt very much that its all numbers matching but was very curious to know for sure
I do know that 3794226 is 58-63 but how do i know that block came with that car

Tranny didn't get a partial (last six digits of your VIN until 1967 unless it was installed by the factory behind a motor rated at 300 horse or more (all big blocks and some high horse small blocks).

The two letters stamped on your engines ID pad decode to :

DK 1966 283 195 - m/t, 4 spd, A.I.R.

These application codes are pretty specific. So this is probably what it is and when it was built.

One of the most important things to determine is the Date Code. It's on the back of the Block and can be hard to see if it is still in the car. It is also on the Heads (under the Valve Cover), Intake and even the Exhaust and Water Pump.

Dave is right that DK is for a '66 283-195 as mentioned above,

but it is also for a '62 283-170 HP, PG Trans and with A/C.

Sounds to be correct especially since you believe it is a '62 and you have already proven the Casting Number to be for a '58 to '63.

Your Engine Suffix Code of "To325DK" tells us that the engine was assembled on March 25th, but that will only tell us the Month and Day. The Date Code will tell you the Year as well and the complete Date should be a little before March 25th.
