Toys For Tots Drag Race Oct. 13th
I'm Posting this for my Friend.
Dear Drag Racing Fan:
For the sixth year in a row, the Mid-Michigan Motorplex and www.RunWhatYouBrung.com have teamed up with Montcalm County's Toys for Tots to kick off the charity's fund raising season with The Toys for Tots Benefit Drag Race on Saturday, October 13.
Cars, trucks, motorcycles, and snowmobiles are all eligible to compete. From hard-core racers driving purpose built race machines to first-time racers in their family sedan and everything in between, all racers are welcome to participate in this special day. As in previous years, there will be no amber bulbs in the Christmas tree and all racing will use the instant green start. Eleven trophies will be awarded for performances during time trials as follows: Quickest three overall, quickest motorcycle, quickest snowmobile, quickest high school student, quickest diesel, quickest doorslammer, quickest orphan powered, quickest inline car/truck, and quickest front wheel drive. Racers are paired with those nearest to them in e.t. Round losers advance to face the winner of next slowest pair. Round winners advance to race the loser of the next quickest pair. Each racer sees three rounds of racing and finishes the day having won three, two, one, or zero out of three. Both racers in each pair get the green light at the same time and the first person to the finish line wins. This is NOT bracket racing. RunWhatYouBrung.com is making good on its' promise to provide affordable heads-up racing to the sportsman and hobbyist!
Toys for Tots relies on donations to provide gifts for children who may not otherwise get presents at Christmas time. Proceeds from the October 14 race stay locally. Volunteers will be at the race to accept donations of both new toys and cash. A representative of the U.S. Marine Corp. will be on hand for the Star Spangled Banner prior to the start of racing.
Time trials start at 11 a.m., racing starts at 2 p.m. and is projected to finish by 5 p.m. Racers fees of $39 include a free T-shirt and allows crew members to get in at half-price. Adult admission is $12, children 11 and under get in for free, all students get a 25% discount with ID. For more information including how you can compete at this event, visit www.RunWhatYouBrung.com or call Doug Dornbos at 231-631-3548. The Mid-Michigan Motorplex can be reached at 989-762-5043.
See you on race day,
