Shaving the marker lights

I am welding up all of the trim holes in my 68 fastback. And I have decided I want to shave the side markers off of the rear quarters, and the sides of the front fenders. Question is ,am I legally required to have them? I live in chattanooga tn. Any info would be appreciated.

I dont know about your DOT requirements but if you do need them, there are much cleaner ways to have them, id say get rid of them.

They where required on all motor vehicles manufactured from 1968 and up. Unless you have an annual vehicle safety inspection no one will be able to enforce the federal law. I seriously doubt that the FBI will get involved.

Talking

They are officially gone! I will finish up the trim holes in the trunk lid this afternoon. Then I can lay down a temporary coat of primer to get me by until I have time go dig further into the body work. My 69 Lincoln continental sedan is in the garage right now.
