63 Impala wagon doors

I own a 63 Impala wagon, the rear passenger doors have rust coming thru the bottom corners from inside the door, most likely from water getting past the rubber window seals. My question is will a rear door off of a 4 door sedan fit my wagon? If so, what kind of work are we lookin' at to change the window frame from the wagon door onto the sedan door? I would just find door skins, but those are pretty much non existant for a 4 door sedan. Any other suggestions?

Thanks, Nodak

We were talking about this a while back on another forum and it looks like they will interchange along with the extra work involved, but personally I would look for some better wagon doors first.

Also, I just noticed that you are from ND. I look at your area as a better than average place to find parts, in better than average condition to boot.

The 1963 and 1964 four doors are interchangeable so far as I know between the sedans and the station wagons.

threw a pair of rear doors (wagon) on the scrap heap a couple of years ago after gutting them, didn't believe there was any market for rear four door stuff. ugh.

Dave,

Just go by a general rule. If it's Chevrolet and 1973 or older, don't throw it away. I save every nut and bolt. Seriously, I've actually had people call me for certain types of screws and they are willing to pay for them. I even sold an old used Brake Cylinder once. It was a Delco and had the right numbers on them.

I beleive the 63 and 64 doors are the same, but the Sedan and Wagon doors are different in that the windows on the rear wagon doors have a square frame, and the Sedans have the curved frame, following to contour of the rear "C" pillar. That said, I beleive the skins are the same (Dave? Were the rear doors on the wagons elongated do ya think?)

I have to beleive what Bill (above) says, too: that we should start saving all these parts and widgets if you can - I just replaced 2 of my drivers doors on my '63 Impala Sedan with 2 doors from a clean '64 Bel-Air sedan and was amazed that the door latches, arm rest holes, and several other minor things were different. I almost tossed the old dented doors, but was lucky to be able to salvage the parts I needed so that my darned interior door latch handle would stop falling off! WHo knew!?
