Hood Spring Issue

Here's a crazy one....the hood on my '62 would barely stay up by itself. If I lifted it sort of carefully and let it go slowly it would usually stay but right on the verge of falling. Replaced the springs with new ones from Ecklers and guess what....exact same problem!! Nothing appears bent, springs were plenty tough to get off and on. Any ideas??

Reproduction Springs are a known problem. I have heard of many opting for good used Hood Springs instead.

Also make sure that you do not over-lubricate the Hinges. Just sparingly.

Hi Bill: Thanks for your answer. I just may have to try to find a good used pair. Interesting that the new springs were a couple of turns shorter than the originals but I have no way of knowing if the first set I took off were the factory springs or an after market a well. More China junk I suppose!!
