New Member w/ 66 Impala SS 427

Hello from the warm Arizona's desert. I own a 1966 Impala SS 427 4-speed console car that is black vinyl over black with black buckets and console. My wife and I found it at Mershon's in Ohio that had been in a car collection in Missouri for about 30 plus years. It had 2301 miles on the odometer when we bought it and drove it back to Arizona in 2003. Now it has just under 7600 miles and gets driven in the winter and spring here. Being numbers matching we are preparing a 496 roller valvetrain motor and maybe a Tremec 5- speed for the shifting duties so we don't break something important. This car is a ball to drive but our summer heat won't allow us that pleasure in due to the heat and the black ..LOL
Hope to learn things and maybe pass on things we already know or know where those hard to find parts are at that other may need or want.
PS: The handle is due to my first Muscle car which is a 1969 Nova L-78 SS.

Welcome to the Team Jim!

I used to run around a with a582 in Florida but I had to use an aftermarket aluminum radiator to do it. I used a Griffin radiator which has die stamped tanks that resemble a stock brass radiator when stained or anodized black (paint is plastic and is an insulator so don't paint it. Take it to your local radiator shop to get the metal died black with a stain that won't come off.

Sounds like a great car. I live about 30 miles from where you bought your car and know a couple of other people that have bought cars there.

Nice find for sure. I'm jealous.

I've been to Mershons a few times as well, always some interesting cars there. (like a garage-find green/white 67 Shelby....)
