1961 Impala Felt Replacement

Hi, I'm a new member, Xman1961, and I can't figure out how to replace the window felt on the rear window upper moldings. It looks like the felt was pressed into the molding. Has anyone had any luck replacing the felts?

Welcome to the Team Xavier!

The felts where pressed in and glued. The felts held in place with staples until the glue had cured.

You could whittle a wooden shoe to press some felt cloth into the groove to simulate the press die that put the cloth in originally, but I have no idea what glue they used (probably something similar to 3M contact cement). I have heard of many car owners who removed the original staples, enlarged the holes with a small drill and then reinstalled the old staples by hand after the felt was glued in place.
