1959 Impala

howdy, my friends call me Mo and i have a 59 Impala 2 dr htp. i live in a small town on the west coast of Canada. my old man was a mechanic and i grew up tinkering on cars. in 75 i was 15 and we went on a service call to tow an old car to the wreckers, it was a 59 Impala, the owner had died and his wife wanted to get rid of it, the old guy had been gone for a few yrs and because he lived near the ocean it was a bit rusty. the widow just wanted it gone so the old man bought it for $1 and towed it home. old dad took it apart and there it sat for a lot of yrs. my dad got sick and passed away, and the car sat a few more yrs. a couple yrs ago i started messing around with it, got the engine running and started to piece it back together. the car sat apart over 30 yrs and last yr i got it backon the road, it only had 21,000 original miles, it's a 283 2 bbl, with a turboglide, PS, PB, radio delete 2 dr htp. i've driven about 3500 miles in the past yr and had two trips to Oregon and back. the interior is all original, most of the front sheetmetal has been replaced, i went through the brakes, cooling system and engine electrical, all the consumibles, belts, hoses, seals, gaskets, but the driveline is untouched original, never been apart. it runs like a dream and i get 18 MPG on the highway. here's a few pics, hope you enjoy it.

Wow! What a nice find! Looks like pretty good care was taken of it over the last couple decades. Welcome to the site!

Hey MO,
Nice ride, And to think that there are people out there that thought plastic seat covers had NO value what so ever!!!! Sure they were hot or cold at times...but they sure preserved the"furniture"... And what can you say about a 283??? They run forever!!!!! Good Luck with the rest of her.

I'm totally jealous! I love my 1966 4-door hardtop Impala Sport, but would let it go in a heartbeat for a '59. Welcome, Mo!
