new to car restoration just purchased a 1971 Chevy Impala with a 402 big block looking to sOUP the motor up

I answered your other posts, though probably not with what you wanted to hear. Had you asked before souping up the 402, I would have advised putting your money into a 454 short block instead.

Welcome. Get the 402 running good and use that for leverage for the 454. I bought my 402 but for $500 carb to the hard to find Impala oil pan and fan to bellhousing with 292 oval's; I couldn't pass it up!

I just call them a bored out 396. I have one in a Camaro.
