64 impala sedan long tube header install

Hello everybody, first post, looking for some advice, what's the best way to install these headers? I know there's not much room so it looks like its not going to be easy, thanks to anybody who responds.

Welcome to the Team Chris!

Header install in a full size car is a snap compared to the exact same headers being bolted in a Nova (If you look you will see the same header part number fits Camaro, Chevelle, Nova and Impala). Generally the instruction sheet will tell you whether they are easier installed from the bottom or from on top.

With all headers it is easier to thread a few studs into the mounting holes first so that you can get the header tubes and gasket to slide over the stud until you get a bolt started on an adjacent tube. Affix all bolts loosely at first. Do not attempt to tighten one end down and then wrestle with the other end you will loose every time.

As far as a studs go you don't have to buy header studs ( I find them a waste of money). Two inches of 3/8-16 all-thread rod or a couple of 2-1/2 inch 3/8-16 bolts with their heads cut off can make installation a lot easer. I do recommend buying Stage Eight locking header bolts.
