05 impala engine swap

My dad has an 2005 impala and I don't know much about them, he wants to swap the engine. Would a 350 or a 397 fit?

Tayler, your dad's car is a modern front wheel drive car. An old-style rear wheel drive 350 will not fit.

For more help with your dad's car, check out www.impalaforums.com

Two doors, four doors, wagons, and ragtops.

Welcome to the Team Tayler!

Yes indeedee that would indeed be a challenge. The Impala as noted is not only a front wheel drive car, but because the motor is sitting side saddle it is limited to a V6. Now if you wanted to rip every thing out of the car, set it on top of an S-10 rear wheel drive frame and then convert the v6 S-10 over to a V8 (that has been done before numerous times and there are even books with step by step instructions to accomplish that feat) you could do it but it would be a whole lot easier not to mention cheaper to go find a used replacement V6 motor.

I salute your ambition, but I would try another project for your 350.

Last rear wheel drive V8 Impala was 1996.
