Stock Stereo Swap?

Okay so here's my dilemma... I have a 2005 Impala and it's great, but I'm wishing it had an Aux port for my phone. I looked into aftermarket stereos but I couldn't find anything that looked nice in a decent price range... So I'm wondering if it's possible to take a stock stereo from a 2007 Impala and install that in my 2005? Not sure if it's possible, but if it is and it helps me retain my beautiful "stock look" then I'll gladly swap out!

This board deals with rear wheel drive V8 powered B-body cars. Very few if any had a stereo radio until the mid seventies were interest in the Impala fades on this board (few members have a 1971-'76 Impala and fewer still the 1977--'89 model body). The 1990-'99 Impalas have their own Impala SS board as they are all EFI equipped reverse coolant flow Small Block Chevys with rear wheel drive.

Sorry but I can not answer your question. Big Dave

A 2007 head unit should swap right in.

For help with your late model FWD: www.impalaforums.com

Two doors, four doors, wagons, and ragtops.

Head?

Is that the metal box enclosure that contains the radio (tubed or fully transistorized after 1964) that we use in these old cars or just the face plate that screws on to fill in the dash?

A head unit is the actual radio/tape/CD/8 track/whatever unit. The head unit goes in the bracket that attaches to the inner dash.

Two doors, four doors, wagons, and ragtops.
