Now have an Impala

Hello, I recently purchased a '62 Impala SS. I have "few" other Chevrolet models but have been coveting a '62 for a few years. I wasn't targeting an SS but this one sort of fell in my lap. It's a decent project car that work was abandoned on 10 years ago. I don't have it home yet, but here are a few pics I took as it sits in the current owners garage.

Original engine/trans are gone. This appears to be an 80's 350, I hope and not a 305, by the small pad on the front of the block. I didn't scrape the paint off to look for codes. He said it was completely rebuilt and may have been decked, so I may not find any codes .. He said it was started once, after initial install, 10 years ago and then never completed. It does turn over with a socket, so it isn't seized. Also has a TH350 trans.
Gotta love the 3 different color plug wires...

Welcome to the Team Mitch!

Looks like most of the parts are already together and ready to cruise. I would be a bit suspect of any primer spots like that seen on the drivers lower fender. Probably Bondo over rust. To repair it you will need a patch panel.

Oh it needs metal work, just not as much as most cars this age up here at the headwaters of the rust belt.

I have a little experience with rust repair, or should I say replacement...

Thanks,

I'm happy about the exterior color but I'm not much of a Black interior guy anymore. I would prefer it be Aqua. Of course, with enough money, that can always be changed..

The Chevelle is in the 2nd of 3 stages of body restoration and will eventually be painted a '66 only color of Aztec Bronze. I am currently waiting for Legendary to ship the complete interior kit of Parchment/Light Fawn for it.

I have another '66 Chevelle too, a 327 Malibu originally Marina Blue with Bright Blue, bucket seat interior.

Anyone interested in a Corvair ?? I am selling my '66 Corsa to find room and funds for the Impala.

OK, it's here.

Lots of parts everywhere, trunk, backseat, in boxes he put in my truck, etc.
Loose chrome trim, both repro quarter skins and an extra dash with push button radio.

Looks like it was Aqua interior that has been changed to Black...

I picked up a pair of really decent fenders for it.

Put a set of Hedman long tube headers on.

Left side is a bit long and the right was short.

I bent it away from the frame with the porta power.

The heads were bone dry from sitting.

Pulled the dizzy and used the primer to get oil thru the engine again.

Took a good 5 minutes of running the pump to get all 8 push rods to oil.

Thanks, I need to live till I'm 120 to get them all "done"...

I'm trying to get into the local vocational college next fall for auto body and paint training. They have accepted my application but I still need to register in May. If there are too many young people wanting to learn this for a trade, I may get bumped, since I will only use it for personal purposes.

I can replace and fab metal all day but can't do finish filler to save my soul... Paint skill is very limited, although I can do driver quality with single stage.
