New Member with a 63 and a 96

Happy to be a part of the family.

My Dad bought me this 63 SS when I was 13, supposedly to keep me out of trouble and drugs. haha I'm 38 now and don't do drugs, so I guess it worked.

I worked on it as much as I knew how with tons of help from him. I drove it in high school, but left it, and my home a year after graduating.

Years passed and along came marriage, career, kids, well... you know. And so the car sat at my Dad's. And sat. And sat.

25 years after I got it, I kicked the mice out of their winter vacation home and resurrected it. We rebuilt part of the motor, fixed odds and ends and cleaned it up. (Man, sitting ruins a car.) I drove it for the first time in 13 years two weekends ago. I brought it up to my current home for the first time since I moved away in 1996, and have driven it every day since. When I took it off the trailer at home for the first time I think I heard my wife say "It was nice knowing you" or something like that. Fortunately I keep a picture of her and the kids so I don't forget what they look like.

I've got quite a bit to do yet, but at last I'm finally doing what's supposed to be done--- enjoying it.

Thanks for having me.
Brad

Welcome to the Team Brad!

It may deteriorate in storage, but stored in a heated garage it won't rust. I think you owe your dad big time in saving that car for you.

Nice car, it's cool that (your Dad) you kept it all these years...

I like the wire spoke wheels in the early pic. I suppose they deteriorated sitting.

Sure is.

I have no idea what the wheels look like anymore. Unfortunately I needed some cash about 20 years ago and had a chance to sell them.
