Getting started

Got a 64 SS today. Haven't worked on a car since college which was 20+ years ago. Figure I'll have it in the garage for the next 3 months and put a new exhaust system on it and try to figure out why the windshield wipers are not working. I am hoping everyone is willing to give me whatever advice they can. Thanks.

Sorry, should have given you more. White exterior with a red and white interior. 327 with power glide. Ps, pb, factory air. Car was framed off in about 1989 and got pictures of the restoration. Car has had a lot of love in the past just not in the last 3-5 years. Looks like either all the original metal or replacement metal that was done extremely well. Car does not need a whole lot - exhaust, belts, head light, taillight. I wanted something I could work on over the winter here near Philly and be ready to cruise April 1.

That sounds like a nice car white red white is a good color combo. Drop a 350 tranny in there and you will change the cars performance drastically.

A few pics

Car is parked in the garage. Definitely will not be seeing much road time from December through March in PA. Engine is mostly stock and I have plans on keeping it as stock as possible. Not turning it into a racer or chromed out show car.

Nice car.

One common problem with the wipers is the switch on the dash. It needs to ground for the motor to run. If it is loose or dirty between it and the dash panel, that can cause them to not. They originally had a large star washer to make the ground and people tend to not put them back after removal because they don't have a clue what it is for.
