New to site - 65 Impala
new to the site. About a year and a half ago, I acquired a 1965 Impala, 2-Door, 327 (250hp), 2 speed power glide w/PS,AC. Was in the same family for 50 years. Owned by a Dallas woman from 1965 until she passed in the mid 80's and her son inherited it. He recently moved and wanted to get rid of the car before he moved.
Almost all original (motor, trans, rearend, metal, trim, most glass, most accessories on the engine). The car had been garage kept it's entire life, so it shows pretty well. Re-painted twice and some mildly crappy interior work done. Still dons it's original lap belts for the driver and passenger, no belts for rear seat passengers, original gauges, and a sangshui radio that is soon to be replaced with an original 1965 GM I just picked up.
The original engine was old and worn with 147,000 original miles on it. We pulled it for a rebuild. Bored .030 over and used a little more aggressive cam, just for low end torque and, of course, stop light lope. Tomorrow she goes in for dual exhaust and inspection. Then I'll drive her to work for a few weeks to make sure everything is seated well and there are no leaks. Then she'll be stabled until I get the AC recharged (Texas summers an all).
The goal is to keep it as original as possible. Not going for the full restoration, I have that in my Super Bee. I want something to drive and enjoy, that I can take the family out in.
