Unhappy Restored 61 Impala 4 door Sport-New Guy

Need some assistance installing lap belts for the front seat. There is no space between the bench bottom seat and the seat back so I cannot slip the seat belt anchor through to bolt it down. How do I overcome this???

Welcome to the Team!

I have no idea how to get around that issue other than cutting a hole and stiching up the upholstery.

I believe Dave has it right. When Seat Belts were an option, which I believe were available in '61, that must be how the factory (or dealer) did it. Although they may have used Plastic "Moldings" to cover the slit.

Edit: Just for a little extra info, I just saw where '62 was the first year for Factory Belts. Before that they were Dealer Options.

Lap Belt Installation Help

I began to install lap belts in my 61 Impala, but could not get the belt anchor to go in between the bottom bench and the back part of the seat, It appears to be solid between the seats Any experienced advice would be most helpful!!!
