1968 Impala Hardtop

Hi I'm Tyler from southern Ohio and I recently purchased a 1968 Impala 4 dr hardtop (pillarless) for a custom project. No pictures of it yet, and there's a lot of work to do which will definitely involve many, many questions. This will be my first major project car and although I am experience with automotive work for my age, I am not experienced with anything like the restoration process or older cars in general.

Welcome to the Team Tyler!

I read were a lot of board members complain about the lack of replacement sheet metal for this year vehicle. There were five different body styles made in in 1968 in just this one car model as such it reduces the number of parts that can be economically reproduced (compared to the 1955-57 production years that had only three body styles). I wish the best of luck in bring it back to life. I would also be looking around for a second car to use as a parts car prefereably one that has lived where there is little rain or snow annually such as in the desert south west.
