Just joined from Arkansas

Just picked up this '65 Belair wagon from a dealer in Iowa (Klemme Klassic Kars). I will be leaning on you guys for info and hopefully can provide some back as well. Plans are to make it a reliable daily driver, update the brakes and put the interior back to stock. It currently has a 350/T350. I do have a TREMEC TKO-500 that I may swap in later, but I plan to just drive it and make small changes as of now.

Welcome to the Team!

You may need more than attention to brakes. These cars suffer from poor alignment if you modify the suspension (people love to lower them) that places additional wear on suspension parts that are mounted in rubber. Rubber rots with age; so in addition to ball joints, tie rod ends and idler arm issues you have to worry about control arm bushings.

I wouldn't be in a rush to swap the drums for discs just yet, instead preferring to replace the single master cylinder with a dual reservoir one and replace all of the rubber hoses out for new ones. The mild steel lines made be corroded on the inside as brake fluid absorbs water. The main reason drum brakes get a bad rep is the water boils causing the brakes to fade prematurely (it is old brake fluid that is the problem not the fact that the car has drum brakes).
