1963 Impala 6K RPM tach stopped working

Hello everyone. I have installed an HEI distributor to my 350 engine. I connected my tach and it worked fine. Then I noticed the next day it was not working. The image you see is how I have it connected. The far left gray wire is for the bulb. The black wire to the right goes to the HEI (where it has a Tach connection). The lower right gray/yellow wire is my ground. The far right brown wire is connected to my fuse box. I have looked everything over and still can't figure out why it will not work again. I have used my indicator light to see if power is going to the Tach and it lights up. Could I have a bad ground connection? Can a tach get a short and stop working?

Whose HEI? Factory, Accell/Malory, MSD, or Pertronix. They all use different circuits and some are not even induction ignitions, but capacitive discharge.

Hay Dave thanks for asking. I think mine is a generic made in America from Ebay. What i dont understand is why have a Tach indicator where i can connect my Tach, work fine one day and then stop working. Could it be the Tach connection for the HEI is now no good? I will have to take it apart and see. Any thoughts? Dave thanks for Responding

Read this article as it explains what is probably your problem. But not necessarily.

https://www.americanautowire.com/vie...c-distributor/

HEI sends a very weak pulse that is amplified (the same way your stereo amp cranks up your music) and as such if you have it connected to the wrong post it could burn out your tach.
