1970 Impala Custom Coupe 350

I just joined the site with my 1970 Impala Custom Coupe 350. I'd love to hear any advice anyone has for this specific car.

My biggest problem right now is that I need to replace the heater box - can I salvage a compatible replacement from any other year, or does it need to be from a 1970? It seems like the heater box for a non-A/C car is common across 1969-71, but several people have said they think the A/C heater box is unique to 1970.

Thanks very much for any help!

Welcome to the Team Jason!

I have heard (I have no direct knowledge myself) that the 1969 and '70 model years as well as the 1968 year had a lot of one year only modifications of standard parts.

What is wrong with yours? Can it be repaired with a small fiberglass parts repair kit and some plastic filler designed for working with fiberglass. If it is broken into a two or three pieces you might be able to glue it back together and patch it up. If it is totally missing you will need to find a parts car to make a donation.

Welcome! I am very jealous of your body panels that are seemingly rust-free

Your heater/AC box looks ok in the picture. What's wrong with it?

The metal is relatively good because it has spent its whole life in Arizona, but all the soft parts are dried and cracked. The plastic mesh grill at the base of the windshield disintegrated, which allowed a bunch of leaves to get into the ventilation system, which rusted it out.

My dad bought this car brand new, and I came home from the hospital in it. It has a lot of rough edges but fun to drive.
