New to this site, and new to Im pala ownership. My first situation I need advice on is the fact that my car has no data tag on the firewall, just the vin in the door jamb. Can I refinish the car in whatever color I choose, and recover the seats in some color combo that was original and then reproduce a tag with the correct corresponding numbers? Would the vin give me the original exterior and interior color combinations? What should I do guys?

p.s. I want to do the car original, not street rod or custom.

There are folks who do custom trim tags. Some folks frown on the practice as it can be used to "make" a valuable / rare car from an ordinary car.

The VIN will contain the body style but not the colors of the body or interior.

personally, I wouldn't even bother with it unless you're creating a bit of a show quality car.
most folks aren't interested in your trim tag.

but yeah, if it really bothers you,..order up a fake one and have at it, I just hope you don't do the 'rare' options thing that David mentioned.

Welcome to the Team Gerry!

Here are a few 1964 Chevrolet Brochures to go shopping with. They list all of the options that you could order along with the power train options.

And another brochure to illustrate some of the color combinations.

My favorite option

This site puts it all together and shows everything you want to know about a 1964 Impala from Chevrolet (at least the RPO versions anyway).
