New to forum

Hello fellow Chevy Impala fans especially 409 owners!

I'm in processing of re-restoring my 1963 Impala SS 409/425. Car has been in family since new. Had a frame-off resto done in early 90's in MO. The car was a Super Chevy class winner.

Other than body, paint and motor work I did almost all of the other work over 5 years. Unfortunately, all the work I had done by the "professionals" didn't hold up.

The car has sat undriven for 5 years so I started what I thought would be a "refresh" job. The lacquer paint had checked pretty badly so found new resto shop in TN. Told them to strip to bare metal. Unfortunately, we found far too much bondo, so some new repo, as well as, NOS sheet metal is being installed.

Also found original engine rebuild wasn't done very well so I took motor to Lamar Walden for rebuild.

Completion is about 4 to 8 weeks away (I think) so I'll be using forum primarily for "detaling" info. Since I've done this twice, I've gained more knowledge than I ever expected so maybe I can help other Impala fans out as well.

Pictures added

Thought I'd share a couple pictures. This is how the car looked in mid-60's after Cragars replaced factory chromed rims. It's also how car looked after original resto in 90's. And after a bunch more $, will look the same later in 2011.

Welcome to the Team Don!

Lamar should get your 409 up and running. He has one of the best known 409 dedicated shops in the country.

I didn't know Lamar was still alive! (no disrepect intended)

Car pics look real nice and of course Lamar will hook you up with reliable power. Fresh paint and fresh engine, you got good times comin!
