New to the site

Hey all just picked up a 66 impala ss 4speed car what do you think?
nom but has a later model 350

was this a factory 4 speed? It looks like it has a knee knocker tach which were used in the chevelles. The factory dash tach should have came with the 4 speed. Car has some potential.

no factory tach in dash but im pretty sure it's a factory 4 speed any way to tell for sure the vin is deinetly a 16837 so it's an ss

I pretty sure if it's the original motor the last two digits of the engine suffix will tell you if it was a manual or automatic trans that came with the car.

Look on the trim tag for the "2L" code, 2L will indicate original 4 speed.

64 Impala SS 327/300 survivor
67 Impala SS 327 triple black hardtop

Tach

Based on what I can see of the engine emblems, it looked like an original small block. In 1966 the tach was part of the 4 SPD package only with the big block, with the small block it was available as RPO U16.
