New Guy with 65 Convertible

Hey guys, just stumbled upon this site while searching for info for my second restoration of my 65 Impala. Figured I'd sign up. Restoration will be a SLOW process, I work in Alaska and the car is at my house in Tennessee... makes for lots of plans and not a lot of progress. Anyways, the car has been mine since I was 14 (28 now, so half my life... wow, just realized) and my dad and I searched for me a ride to build by the time I had my license. Replaced the floors, rebiult the 283/monojet/Powerglide and stuck with the 4 wheel power drums... needless to say I learned how to drive defensively, the car made it out of high school unscathed!.

Here are the most recent pics I have, future plans include brake and suspension upgrades, body work and respraying the orginal Artesian Turquoise and a new top and top motor. I won't see the car again until November though... plenty of time to save and plan.

I'm on a few other forums with the same screen name so if I look familiar thats why.

Welcome to the Team Michael!

Nice ride, and your 283 doesn't look like a bit like a 383 under your hood (I'm betting at least not yet anyway)! I was going to suggest when it comes time to build your 383 go with an aftermarket 4.125" bore block and just claim it's 383.

Awesome! Welcome!
Funny, your story is similar to mine (I'm 28, bought my 65 SS when I was 16...My dad helped me find and build mine too)

Looking forward to seeing more of this car!
