1966 impala with a 700r4

hello I'm back I need a question answered I put a 700 r 4 transmission in my impala today the shift linkage does not match up is what the guy told me he said my best bet is the go with a floor shifter and I need to know how many inches to cup of the driveshaft what else I need to do to make this work my cars rides at regul ar ride height somebody can you please help me out thanks

Put the old drive shaft in the rearend and hold it up to the tailshaft of the trans. Makena mark on the yoke where the tailshaft ends and bring it to your local driveshaft shop. Explain to them how you marked it and they can make it right for you.

...you don't need to convert to a floor shifter. You can use aftermarket column shift linkage like this:

to the guys who helped me out on my problems I want to thank you very much for your advice I did exactly what you said and it worked perfectly the shifter linkage was a big success
