Hi From Australia

Hi my name is Dave Pagano. I live in Sydney Australia and am a confirmed petrol head.
I have a pretty large collection of old cars , Boats, Bikes and trucks.
I have had a 67 Impala 396 SS coupe since I was 22 (Im now 46).
The car came here in 67 and was converted to Right hand drive.
When I got it it was showing 19000 miles which I believe is genuine as I have researched its history and it basically wasnt driven in 20 years.
It now has 53000 miles and is showing its age.
The car still presents well but needs a resto and I was hoping for some advice on this forum.
The car is matching numbers with air, steer, turbo 400, positraction, front discs and usuall SS interior options.

Thanks. I took my wife of now 20 years on our first date in it. On our second date we went to the drive in and she pinned me up against the side window on the back seat.

She will never let me part with this car and has been riding me for a couple of years to restore it. I still drive it a fair bit but it really needs to be done.

I restore car for a living. It just seems everyone elses get priority.

I guess you need to get busy on that car and go on more dates with your wife.

Welcome to the Team David!

I would be interested in seeing pictures of the conversion from left to right hand drive. Did the person converting it buy a GM dash to replace the original or modify what was there? The cowl would have to be modified as well as the brake cylinder area is reinforced as is the under the dash area to prolong the onset of metal fatigue. Then I would imagine you would need a different heater core box and duct work.

This is a lot of work to import a car that could just as easily be used as is to say deliver mail.

Back when the car was new up until a few years ago by law they had to be converted.
The steering box was moved to the right. The dash is the original converted.
All the brakes and heater box stayed on the left. The brakes are activated with a cross
Over rod. Ive driven the car a lot over the years and it works fine.
